Here we are at the start of a new year, the 140th anniversary of the Shriners and the 90th year from opening our first Hospital.  I would like to begin by saying "Thank You" for the opportunity to serve as your Potentate of Sphinx Shriners for 2012.

Lady Diane and I have outlined a fun-filled year, and we encourage all Nobles and Ladies to be active participants and enjoy the activities planned.

Some have asked, “Why did you put the phrase "Shriners Make a Difference" on this year’s Potentate pin? It's simple - Shriners make a difference. To everyone they touch: the child, the parent, the Hospital staff, the doctor, the nurse. But just as important as all this, is the difference it makes in a Mason’s heart, when he becomes a Shriner and goes to one of our hospitals to witness how a child and their family are treated. 

To know Shriners have the best research and development teams in the fields they cover and give our children the best treatment possible should make us all proud to belong to this fraternity. So this year, when you give this pin to someone, if they ask what it means, answer from the heart as I know you will. Remember, they could be a new Shriner or Mason, who could make a difference to our fraternity. 

I have more pins coming, please give them out as often as possible, they are the billboard of the Shrine, you could find a child in need or even a new member. Thank you again.
